"Thank you for the WFR review workshop you did for our Outpost staff. I appreciated your openness to work with our specific programming to create a training that was useful for the staff. Participants felt more confident in their skills, because the workshop focused on scenarios that were believable and possible in the environments that would be working in this summer. "

Wilderness and Disaster Medicine
“Medical Training and Communication Systems for Severe Environments”
Phase

Description

I: WMA Courses
Wilderness Medical Associates courses use a principles-based approach to patient assessment to prepare outdoor and medical professionals that work in severe environments to assess illness and injuries, apply treatments, and utilize improvised equipment. Learning is fast paced, hands-on, and applicable!
II: Equipment and Systems

Is your first aid equipment and communication systems appropriate to your activities, locations, clients, and staff training? EPS consultants and instructors are experienced EMTs and paramedics, expedition leaders, and SAR team members. We can guide you in the selection of emergency medical and rescue equipment to support field care of ill or injured participants. We can also work with your program management team to design communication systems to support evacuation of an ill or injured trip participant.

III: Crisis Response Exercise
Our Crisis Response Exercises are interactive emergency simulations ranging from 2 to 12 hours in length. These unique programs challenge your management team to make effective decisions during a crisis. Participants can expect a variety of dynamic situations and must work together to create mission-critical solutions applicable to your unique organization.
IV: Continuing Education
Wilderness medicine course review workshop is specifically designed for WMA course graduates. Workshops use critical thinking exercises and patient assessment drills to review first aid protocols and “what if” situations frequently encountered by your leaders. A needs assessment of your organizations activities and destinations guides the workshop topics.

Our multimedia On-line CE programs are available day or night from dial-up and high speed internet connections. A wide variety of 20-30 minute on-line continuing education lessons are available on patient assessment, environmental emergencies, and injury treatment. Lessons can be customized for your organization.
